My favourite thing about Easter is the smell of Hot Cross Buns that lingers in my parents house as my mum whips ups batches of hot cross buns for everyone that comes past the house. Her tried and trusted recipe is this one from Simply No Knead, I omit the sugar as I find them sweet enough with the dried fruit but I think mum still sneaks it in. For years mums hot cross buns always tasted WAY better than mine despite us both using the same recipe, so I quizzed her for her secret sauce and found out its all about the fruit. The recipe calls for 1 1/2 cups of dried fruit, mum’s secret sauce is using the Angus Park Fruit Medley, not just any fruit medley she only uses this brand because of the fruit selection (apple, pear, peach, apricots, sultanas) and has no mixed peel.
