The ability to carve out your own path has become a sought after lifestyle thats within all of our reach. There’s glorification around the ability to be a digital nomad, an entrepreneur, a solopreneur and whilst I’m the first one to say that the ability to work with my kids at my feet is a blessing, its not all coffee shops and free wifi dates. You see that word solopreneur, the prefix ‘solo’ is as much of a demon as it is a luxury. As humans we’re designed searching for reinforcement, social approval, acceptance, feedback and we crave compliments. So when your office is a desk for one and the longest conversation you have with someone is ordering your skinny latte for the day who do you have to bounce an idea off, to ask for feedback, to seek the reassurance that we are desperately craving to know that our work is worthy and worthwhile? Last week I spent a day surrounded by 4 inspiring women who in their respective industries are forces to be reckoned with. We reflected, we shared knowledge, we gave constructive criticism and feedback, we planned and strategised. But at its core the ability to connect, to converse and to share common ground was and will remain empowering. I think we all owe it to ourselves to find a tribe to allow us those opportunities for connection and conversation, because you deserve to be encouraged on the days that you need it and you deserve to share champagne when its time to celebrate too.
